Together with 7 other H2020 EU funded projects, the ISLANDER project participated in a series of webinars organized by RINA Consulting S.p.A. in September, focusing on clean energy transition on islands. The aim was to present the point of view of these principal H2020 funded projects, consolidating their collaborative approaches, meditating towards new perspectives by creating synergies and involving the different communities to take advantage of lessons learned. The workshop involved projects with more than 160 partners from all over Europe and 95 million Euros of funding. The projects participating in the initiative were:

• SMILE: Smart island energy system
• IANOS: Integrated solutions for decarbonisation and smartification of islands
• INSULAE: Maximizing the impact of innovative energy approaches in the EU islands
• MAESHA: Demonstration of smart and flexible solutions for a decarbonised energy future in Mayotte and other European islands
• REACT: Renewable energy for self-sustainable island communities
• GIFT: Geographical island flexibility
• ROBINSON: Smart integration of local energy sources and innovative storage for flexible, secure and cost-efficient energy supply on industrialized islands
• ISLANDER: Accelerating the decarbonisation of islands’ energy systems

The results and future approaches among the different areas faced during these webinars were presented in a workshop at the sustainable places event. This way the awareness and focus on strategies and practical solutions for decarbonisation and energy efficiency on islands was increased. A video of the workshop can be found here.
