IDENER R&D is a recently created spin-off of IDENER that will centralise the R&D activities, thus forming the IDENER group. IDENER R&D investigates in the multidisciplinary field of Computational Science and its application to the optimization of systems and processes in key areas: Industrial Technologies; ICTs; Biotechnology; Energy; and Resource and Raw Materials Efficiency. This approach results in a high added value which sharpens the competitive edge of complex systems by provi- ding improvements in performance and cost-effectiveness. To
that end, IDENER integrates concepts from four interrelated and complementary areas: Mathematical Modelling and Simu- lation; Multidisciplinary Design Optimization; Control Enginee- ring; and Software Engineering. The IDENER group has extensi- ve experience in international R&D projects, having coordinated and/or participated in more than 25 projects funded under European public research programmes (FP7 and H2020) and in several private actions since 2010.

The Spanish company CEGASA was founded in 1934 and designs and manufactures electrochemical energy storage, namely Lithium-Ion solutions (industrial mobility, last mile, urban services, stationary “behind the meter” systems) and primary Zn-air industrial batteries.

DAFNI – Network of Sustainable Greek Islands is a non-profit organization of island local and regional authorities founded in 2006. DAFNI supports the sustainable development of Greek islands being involved in advocacy and policy development on local, national and EU level and the implementation of innovative projects on islands. Today it counts 53 members, of which 49 island municipalities and 4 Regional authorities. It is a founding member of the Pact of Islands Ιnitiative, coordinator of the Smart Islands Initiative, and a collaborating body of the Covenant of Mayors Office and the Clean Energy for EU Islands Secretariat.

EMEC is the world’s only accredited wave and tidal test centre for marine renewable energy, suitable for testing multiple grid-connected devices simultaneously through pre-consented and cost-minimising test and demonstration facilities. EMEC’s wider energy activities also focuses on green hydrogen, battery storage, integrated energy systems as well as international consultancy activity and research services. EMEC has lead on various EU funded projects including BIGHIT, OCTARRAY and InToTidal.

AYESA group is a company based on three pillars: Engineering, Technology and Consultancy. One of the company expertise’s is the deployment of smart energy grids including hardware and software components. Ayesa is a common contractor of main energy utilities, participating in the execution and management of projects that unify multidisciplinary technology for value-added developments such as design tools, planning, simulation and artificial intelligence applied to the operation of energy assets.

The Behavioural Engineering Research Group (BEE) at the FEB KU Leuven studies human decision making and behavior in an economic environment from an interdisciplinary angle (economics, marketing, psychology, philosophy, medical sciences, and biology). BEE studies both decision making, behavior, and underlying mechanisms. BEE’s goal is to stimulate and support decision makers in making welfare enhancing decisions, inspire policy makers to design policy in support of such decisions, and as such contribute to a better society.

elmy is a French utility of 100% renewable energy. Thanks to its expertise, it controls the entire market value chain, from production to supply. elmy currently supplies more than 30,000 individual and business customers and communities in French with green electricity. The team made of more than 100 employees is committed to accelerate the development of renewable energies by democratizing them and investing in new development production assets.

The Regional Energy Agency Kvarner is one of the five Croatian energy agencies, covering the area of Primorje Gorski Kotar County. It is a Public body, founded by the regional government in 2009, and active member of the FEDARENE - European network of regional and local organizations which implement, co-ordinate and facilitate sustainable energy and environment policies. Apart from being active on the regional and national level, it has a strong focus on the international cooperation and activities.

Steinbeis-Europa-Zentrum (SEZ) was founded in March 1990 as the operational unit of the Commissioner for Europe of Baden-Württemberg's Minister of Economics. SEZ supports companies, universities and research organisations in submitting proposals and implementing cross-border projects. SEZ also advises policy makers and administrations from Baden-Württemberg on regional future scenarios, on innovation and cluster policy issues and helps them to form networks with other European experts. SEZ is member of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN).

As a segment of "Nordseeheilbad Borkum GmbH", the Stadtwerke Borkum are responsible for supplying the island with electricity, water and district heating. Furthermore, the Stadtwerke operate the airport and the public harbour. For 100 years, the Stadtwerke have been responsible for supplying the island with electricity and water. During this time, the electricity grid has grown to a size of 112 km of low voltage cable and 85 km of medium voltage cable, connected by 60 substations.
